Allan’s poultry career started in 1969 when he joined Moray Chicks Ltd as production manager. With Anglian Food Group he helped develop techniques for the mass administration of live poultry vaccines. He joined Hamish Morison as production manager in 1976 becoming sales director of their UK based day old broiler chick sales business. During this time the sales volume grew from 30,000 to 1,000,000 broiler chicks per week.
In 1991 Allan started his own consulting company working for clients such as Intervet on UK vaccine sales and Cobb Europe as their business development manager covering European and Southern African markets. A major success was establishing Cobb South Africa and growing parent stock sales to the independent sector.
In 2005 Allan was awarded the British Poultry Council’s Distinguished Service Award at the House of Commons, London, UK
